Prince, later King Derek is the deuteragonist of The Swan Princess franchise. He is the main love interest, boyfriend, and husband of Princess Odette. His widowed mother is Queen Uberta while his father-in-law, King William had died years ago. He is the main protagonist in The Swan Princess: The Mystery of the Enchanted Treasure.

Background[]

Personality[]

When he and Odette were little, they could not stand each other, but they later fell in love.

In some movies, such as the first, and the last two films, Derek appears as a person who has learned humility, honor, and courage to fight for the woman he loves. Derek is also very gullible which usually leads to more disasters, leaving him to fix what he caused. His face was determined, unquestioning as his love for Princess Odette is much more powerful than their evil foes.

Appearance[]

He is slender and has fair skin along with brown bobbed hair and eyebrows and blue eyes. He wears the same outfit (the indigo vest with white long sleeves and long boots), in every film showing a casual look. He was wearing a more formal outfit when he battled with Rothbart, and on special occasions, he wears a golden outfit.

Film Roles[]

The Swan Princess[]

In the first movie, Derek appears as a young boy with Queen Uberta, giving newborn Princess Odette a golden heart-shaped pendant with a swan on it. Watching the young children, Queen Uberta and King William thought that their children should see each other every summer in the hope that they would fall in love and marry merging the two kingdoms.

Later, Odette and Derek fall in love at first sight. They begin to dance and they even share their first romantic kiss together. The moment after the romantic kiss, Derek expresses his wish to marry Odette just for her beauty.

This reason upsets her because she wants someone to love her for a reason other than her beauty. Not that people can't love her for her beauty but that she does not want people to love her only for her beauty. So when Derek says this, she rejects him again. She leaves the next day with her father, but they are intercepted by an evil sorcerer, Rothbart, who transforms into a "great animal". He kidnaps Odette and fatally injures King William to his eventual death. His captain returns to Queen Uberta's castle and informs everyone present that they were attacked by the great animal. Derek arrives on the scene where King William tells him with his last dying breath that they were attacked by a great animal and that it is "not what it seems". Derek was left behind after to hear what King William has said. He refused to believe that Odette was gone and he goes back to the kingdom, training in the hope that he will find Odette and save her from the great animal.

Queen Uberta prepares a royal ball for him to find him a new bride, but he refuses to be king until he finds Odette. He and Bromley train for several days and they practice the catch and fire technique with the help of the castle valet, Lord Rogers. Odette's new-found friends Jean-Bob, Speed, and Puffin work together to find Derek and take him to Swan Lake.

One day, Derek and Bromley ride off to search for the great animal. As Odette and Puffin find him, he confuses her for the great animal and he tries to kill her, but she flies away just in time. Derek followed them back to Swan Lake. As they arrived at the lake, Odette was about to change back into a human when some clouds covered the moon.

Derek also arrives there and he tries to kill her, but before he could do it, Puffin stops him and Odette turns into a human in time. The happy couple embraces each other but for a short time because Odette hears Rothbart coming. After learning that Odette is under a spell, Derek invites her to go to the ball where he can break the spell with a vow of everlasting love.

Unfortunately, Rothbart finds Derek's bow, and tells Odette that there will be no moon the next night, and he has her, in swan form, imprisoned in the castle dungeon along with Bromley. He then plans to send his hag sidekick Bridget, disguised as Odette, to the ball instead so Derek will mistakenly make his vow of everlasting love to her.

Odette's friends free her, but when she reaches the ball, she sees that she has been replaced and she tries to warn Derek but she fails, partly due to Bridget's attempts to keep Derek from seeing her, and partly because Derek ends up unknowingly making the vow to Bridget. Rothbart arrives and reveals that Derek's vow, given to the wrong woman, will cause his spell to kill Odette. She flies back to Swan Lake as Rothbart's curse drains her life force. When Odette goes back to the lake, she transforms back into her human form. Derek arrives too late. Odette was still alive but not for long. Derek desperately shouts that the vow was made for her. She knows and she said the most beautiful words: "I love you, Derek". She dies in his arms and she lies back on the ground and she doesn't move again.

An enraged Derek confronts Sir Rothbart, demanding that he save Odette and bring her back to life. To Derek's surprise, the sorcerer transforms into a towering, snarling beast, the Great Animal. The battle begins as Prince Derek draws his sword to attack, but the Great Animal thrusts itself into the air, then lands on Derek, who disorients the beast by throwing dirt at its face. Quickly jumping to his feet, Derek picks up his sword, drawing first blood when he cuts the beast's shoulder with his sword, angering his foe. The daring prince stood his ground and showed no fear, swearing he will not let Odette die, then watches on as the sneering beast ascends high into the sky. Derek lost sight of Rothbart and waited, looking around for the beast. At the last moment, the Great Animal jumped out of hiding, breaking a tree and lands on Derek again, grabbing the prince in its talons, then bites the sword in its jaws, breaking it into pieces. While pinned under the Animal's feet, Derek picks up a rock and smashes it on the beast's talon, freeing himself and provoking the Great Animal.

During the fight while watching in pure shock, Puffin remembers Derek's bow that has previously been thrown into the lake by Rothbart after he learns of Derek's first visit to the lake bottom during an earlier adventure in the area. Balling up Jean-Bob, Puffin throws him headlong toward the lake to retrieve the bow, causing Jean-Bob to obey and swim into the bottom of the lake to get the bow, hoping to save Derek.

Above them soared the Great Animal, while Derek lands hard on the ground, tumbling away. Before he could stand, the beast attacks again, grabbing the prince in its talons and lifted him off the ground. Derek is carried high into the air, struggling in the Great Animal's clutches, as he is flown high into the air and then dropped the prince. Derek yelled, falling to the ground, only for the Great Animal to catch him in its talons. Crying out in triumph, it flung Derek into a tree. With a sickening thump, Derek smacked against the tree, then grabs a tree branch to fight against the beast. Then as the Great Animal hits the tree, Derek falls to the ground, knocking the wind out himself.

Just as the daring prince faces certain defeat from the merciless beast, while down below, Jean-Bob has successfully relayed the bow to Derek, and with a few comical slaps to the face, revived him in time to see the approaching Great Animal flying down for the kill. Instinctively reaching for an arrow that is not there, Derek realizes he cannot make use of his bow. However, Bromley, who escaped from the dungeon earlier, provided Derek with a single arrow. Derek catches it and fires the arrow into Rothbart's heart as he explodes upon crashing into the lake. After Rothbart's death, everyone becomes relieved that he's gone forever, but everyone becomes silent because Odette hasn't come back to life.

Derek takes Odette into his arms again saying that he really loves her for her courage and kindness, and he kisses her on her forehead and he buried his face in hers. Odette comes back to life, which overjoys Derek, and the two share a kiss. Derek and Odette are married and became the future king and queen. Then Odette asks Derek if he'll love her till the day she dies. He shakes his head and says, "No. Much longer than that Odette. Much longer." And they finally lived happily ever after.

The Swan Princess: Escape from Castle Mountain (The Secret Of The Castle)[]

In the second film, Derek is so busy with his royal duties that he never has time for Odette. He wants the best for his kingdom. Odette wishes that he can be with her all the time.

The next day, Derek starts to look for the culprit who wanted to make a trap for him, which partly involves setting fire to the fields. He doesn't want Odette to worry. But before he leaves, he receives a letter saying that his mother has been kidnapped and he rides to rescue his mother. The antagonist who was responsible for capturing Queen Uberta is the evil magician named Clavius (who was Rothbart's former partner). He enters the kingdom to search for the Forbidden Arts.

Odette transforms once again into a swan, flying to save Derek. Derek flees from all the traps that was set by Clavius’ co-conspirator, Sir Knuckles. Odette saves him just in time. Derek was surprised as he sees Odette in swan form. He questions how she transformed, but Odette says that there's no time to explain and that they have to return to the castle. Derek thanks Odette for saving his life, leading Odette to smile at him. As they are on their way, they see that Clavius has the orb.

As long as he has the orb, Odette would be stuck as a swan forever. They follow the magician, along with Jean-Bob, Puffin, and Speed. As they arrived at the volcano, Derek tells Odette that she should fly to find out if Uberta was okay. All of a sudden, he sees Knuckles in front of him. He nearly kills him again and Derek even saves him from the cliff. But he pushes Derek off the cliff instead in an act of betrayal. Odette tries to distract Knuckles but soon, she is at his hands. He captures her and he ties her with his belt and he tries to kill her. But Derek survived the fall from the cliff and managed to save himself by grabbing a tree branch. He then used the tree branch to climb up to safety. He then goes after them to rescue Odette.

Knuckles was about to throw her from the cable car. While Odette was about to get free after Derek got in the cable car, one of her wings was able to get out of the rope it was tied with but the other wing could not get out but Knuckles discovers that one of her wings broke free and he throws her from the cable car into the bottomless pit below. Derek cuts the rope and catches her in time while Knuckles falls to his death. Arriving at the volcano, a huge fight is about to begin. While Clavius almost kills Derek, Odette and her animal friends free Queen Uberta. But before they leave, Jean-Bob was killed by Clavius. Derek takes the orb to destroy it so Odette can be a princess once again. Clavius tries to stop them, and during the struggle, the orb is dropped, which shatters on the floor and causes a massive explosion which presumably kills Clavius and destroys the Forbidden Arts in the process.

Later, everyone is at Swan Lake, waiting for the moon to rise so Odette can turn back into a human. When the moonlight touches Odette, she is transformed back to her human form and Jean-Bob comes back to life. The gang celebrates their victory and Uberta's fiftieth birthday.

The next day, a guest (the king of Lincolnshire) arrives a day early, much to the surprise of Derek and Rogers. Derek asks Rogers to tell the king to wait because he plans on spending the day with Odette. The two then share a romantic kiss, happily enjoying their time together alone at last.

The Swan Princess: The Mystery of the Enchanted Treasure[]

In the third movie, Derek and Odette are celebrating the Festival Days. Jean-Bob is training to become a prince for a day. But a yakey-bird named Whizzer was kidnapped by an evil sorceress named Zelda, who was Rothbart's former partner. He betrayed her a long time ago, and got the Forbidden Arts for himself. Before, he had promised to share them with Zelda but he broke his promise by taking them away before she could have them too but Rothbart still had notes on how to get the Forbidden Arts and Zelda has a feeling they still exist in the castle, so she sends Whizzer to find out if the Forbidden Arts are still in the kingdom.

Derek and Lord Rogers had found them but they did not destroy them because Derek thought they could be used for good purposes too and they would just have to be used in a different way than they had been used. Soon Odette finds out that Derek had been hiding the notes the whole time. He tries to explain it to Odette but she gets mad and leaves him. Derek feels that Odette was right.

He sings a love song, "Because I Love Her" as he realizes how much he loves Odette and says he would do anything for her. He can't live without her. He finally apologizes to Odette and she forgives him, but she says he must destroy the notes before the Festival Days are over.

Zelda manages to get the notes to the Forbidden Arts but she then finds out that there was a missing piece. So she sends a letter to Derek saying that she kidnapped Odette and that the only way Derek could get her back was if he gave her the missing section of Rothbart's notes. She knew that Derek would give her the notes because it was the only way to save Odette because Zelda knew Derek would do anything for Odette. Zelda then kidnaps Odette and she reveals her plan to a defenseless Odette that she has been kidnapped and that a letter was sent to Derek that said she had been kidnapped but that the only way Derek could save her was if he gave her the missing section of Rothbart's notes. Because she told Odette that she had the notes but she said there was a missing section that she could not find after she kidnaps her. She makes Whizzer send the letter to Derek that says that she has kidnapped Odette and the only way he can save her is if he gives Zelda the missing section of Rothbart's notes. Whizzer leaves the letter having no other choice because Zelda threatened to kill him if he did not obey her. Derek reads it and he discovers his wife is in great danger. Derek rode to his palace and he finds the piece of paper that has the power to destroy on it. Rogers says that Derek can't give away the secret to the Forbidden Arts because it is dangerous but Derek says he has to because Odette will die if he does not. He says: "I fought the Forbidden Arts before and I can fight them again! But I am not going to lose Odette!"

He rides to the place where Zelda is waiting. She transforms into the shape of Odette so that Derek will mistakenly give the notes to her, thinking she is Odette because he knows Odette would not do anything bad with the notes. Derek believes that she is the real Odette just like in the first movie. He gives the wrong Odette the missing paper and Zelda transforms back into herself after it is too late and she tells Derek that she will need Odette as an experiment to see if the power to destroy really works.

Derek and Odette's friends are coming to the rescue to save Odette. Derek arrives at Zelda's lair and he sees that Odette has become a swan once again. Derek and his friends free Odette from the green fireball that imprisoned her and Jean-Bob. Zelda is furious and she casts a red, destroying fireball to kill Odette. Odette tries to fly away with Puffin but the fireball catches her and kills her.

Derek attacks Zelda and he tries to break her wand in two while Whizzer imitates Rothbart. During the struggle, Zelda falls back into the green fireball and she is killed. Sadly, Puffin informs Derek that Odette hadn't been able to escape in time from the fireball and she was killed. Devastated by his dearly beloved wife's death, Derek breaks down and cries. He destroys the Forbidden Arts notes by setting them on fire. The flames take on the orange-and-yellow fiery shape of a swan, and Odette comes back to life.

During the Festival Days, Jean-Bob wins the race and is crowned prince for a day. The day was almost over when Queen Uberta and Lord Rogers win the first prize from the talent show from the tango dance. Although the dance ended in a disaster.

Derek and Odette watch from nearby, and Odette asks Derek to promise her that there is no more magic in the castle. Derek tells her "So long as you're here, Odette, there will always be magic," and the two romantically kiss, ending the movie.

The Swan Princess Christmas[]

In the fourth movie, he and Odette are celebrating their first Christmas together with all their friends and family. Odette loves all the decorations from Lord Rogers and Queen Uberta. She even loves the chimes when they played the song: "far longer than forever". At the castle, Odette looks at some of the preparations for Christmas Eve and Queen Uberta and Lord Rogers give Odette a list so she can prepare her stuff for Christmas Eve and she agrees.

Derek and his friend Bromley look for the Christmas tree they will use. They haven't noticed that a black cat called Number 9 tries to lure Derek to the cellar where he opens the box so Rothbart can come out to destroy Christmas. The next is ornament day and everybody is putting all the decorations on the tree.

The one object missing is the royal star. Derek goes to the cellar to find it, but when he sees the cat, he opens the box. At first, he did not see anything inside but then he sees Rothbart inside and he begins to sing. Derek soon finds out that the cat had lured him there, and he swears revenge to get Rothbart where he belongs.

He tells Odette all about what he had seen and heard. Odette notices that Queen Uberta and Lord Rogers are suddenly fighting about the Christmas Eve party. Derek put chimes all over the kingdom so that Rothbart wouldn't harm anyone because the chimes make him visible so they would see him and they would be prepared if he came. Odette had another idea to break the spell. She takes Lord Rogers and Queen Uberta to the wood village to give them food and gifts. This time the spell is broken and everybody says Merry Christmas and Odette says: Christmas Queen Uberta is back and so is the Christmas Spirit.

Bromley and Derek had made a trap for Rothbart so he can't escape. Rothbart had another plan that his last chance to ruin the Christmas spirit is to sabotage the royal Christmas tree. He sends Number 9 to steal one of the Christmas lights, and Rothbart casts a spell on it that will destroy the tree. Derek learns of this plan thanks to Bridget, who has double-crossed Rothbart and she traps him inside a giant chime.

Derek rushes back to the Christmas Eve party to stop the tree from being lit, but they are too late. The enchanted light bulb bursts the tree and its ornaments into flames. Rothbart becomes fully physical, and he takes Uberta's crown and he kidnaps Odette, taking her back to Swan Lake.

At Swan Lake, Rothbart turns Odette into a swan once again and traps her inside a cage made of roots. He then casts a spell on the moonlight, so that when it touches Odette's wings, she will turn into a golden, swan-shaped Christmas ornament forever. Derek arrives to rescue Odette and he battles Rothbart, who has assumed the form of the great animal again.

At first, Derek is overpowered, but then Odette starts singing "The season of love" which weakens Rothbart until he eventually bursts into flames. With Rothbart defeated, Odette changes back into a human. Derek dies in her arms due to his injuries, which leaves Odette heartbroken. She sings again, and the mighty spirit of Christmas magically returns him to life and restores the royal Christmas tree.

The Swan Princess: A Royal Family Tale[]

In this movie, Derek and Odette ran to the castle to Queen Uberta. Derek sees that she is playing dead and she wants to have grandchildren of her own before another queen does who also doesn't have any grandchildren yet. Derek knows what Odette was trying to say. Outside, Odette hears the conversations and she laughs. But she also wants Queen Uberta to have grandchildren too.

Derek asked if he could have a picnic with Odette but she already promised to help the woodcutter. Meanwhile, a group of Scullions prepare a trap for the Swan Princess because they saw this false legend that she was evil so they want to kill her so they can be safe. So they flew to find her. Odette and Derek were about to finish their work. So, the flying scullions hit Odette's horse with some nuts and it goes out of control and it begins to run away. Odette tries to get the reins but she was unable to catch them.

She falls on the backside of her carriage and she tries to climb back up but she can't. She sees a curve and she notices that she'll fall. But Derek came to save her as he safely got her to return home. One night, an evil force (also called the Forbidden Arts who lives in a crystal in the cave near the forest), wanted to burn Odette alive, but he accidentally burned down the house nearby instead and he kills the father of a young girl named Alise. Derek and Odette rescued Alise and her father from the burning house but he dies slowly. But before he dies, he said to Derek that he should take care of Alise. Derek promises to take care of Alise and Alise's father dies. After Alise's father is buried, she goes with Odette and Derek to the castle.

The next morning, Odette takes care of Alise and sympathizes with her because she remembers how she also lost her father, King William. Alise refuses to speak while everybody tries to cheer her up. One night, Alise has a nightmare and Odette sings her a lullaby to make her feel sure that everything's all right, and she and Derek leave her room. So the next day, Derek and Odette decided to adopt her since they know that Alise has no living relatives. Derek is so happy and Queen Uberta is too.

But after a short while, Alise is kidnapped by a group of scullions and she is bought into the forest. Odette rides after the scullions and Derek follows her. In the forest, there are a lot of traps set up for Derek and Odette. Mangler, another one of the flying squirrels hits Derek and suddenly, another scullion named Scully helps her and Derek, and they go to his secret cave where Scully explains to Odette about the legend and the Forbidden Arts. Derek soon recovers and they devise a plan to rescue Alise.

Derek drinks a sleeping potion so the scullions will believe he's dead since he was already supposed to be dead after Mangler poisoned him because it will create a diversion so that Odette and Scully can sneak in and save Alise. So Derek drinks the sleeping potion and the scullions take him away. But Derek awakes too soon and the scullions realize that he is still alive. So they decide to kill him for real this time. The scullions were about to kill him. But when Odette appears, she explains that she will never harm them. She only has the power to love the girl and she only wanted to live to love her. Mangler hit Scully as he was about to explain what he had seen in the cave. Cutter believes what Scully had said and the other Scullions believe him. Mangler is ready to kill Odette, but instead of killing her, he accidentally kills Jojo but he recovers soon by an antidote that Odette gave him that Scully gave her in case she was killed by a scullion. Puffin frees Derek and all the scullions believe in her and they soon realize she is not evil at all and the legend began to change. So all the scullions want to help their new friends and they want keep the Glowing Stone safe from the Forbidden Arts because if he possesses it, he will be able to kill Odette. But soon, the evil force comes out of his cave and finally has it and he finally gains the power to destroy Odette. While Odette and Scully are on their way to free Alise, Mangler was about to kill Odette but she soon gets saved by her friend. Odette was unable to break the prison where Alise had been imprisoned. At last, Alise finally speaks and she tells Odette to break the crystal because it was the only way to save her. But she couldn't do it and the Forbidden Arts appeared to kill her.

After a huge explosion, the evil force was defeated and Odette and Alise were unharmed but Odette could not find Alise because as soon as the Forbidden Arts was destroyed, the cave became foggy and it was impossible to see anything. Odette searches for Alise by calling her name. A familiar voice was heard, "Mommy?" Odette hears it and she sees Alise unharmed and she realizes the voice belonged to Alise. They hug for a long time. The movie ended as Derek and Odette represented Alise as their new daughter and princess.

The Swan Princess: Princess Tomorrow, Pirate Today[]

In the 6th movie, Derek and his wife Princess Odette are on their way to help their people by building a bridge to cross to the other side and they left Alise behind in the care of Lord Rogers, Queen Uberta, and their beloved animal friends: Jean-Bob, Puffin, Speed and the Scullions who have confidence in Odette. Queen Uberta wants her granddaughter act like a princess, while Lord Rogers wants to teach Alise how to sail.

So Lord Rogers takes Alise, Jean-Bob, and Speed to the open seas having a lot of fun and Alise wears a pirate costume making Lord Rogers realizing that Queen Uberta was right that he would turn Alise into a pirate. On their first night out on the open seas, Lord Rogers explains to Alise about the polar star that sailors use to guide them back home.

But a terrible typhoon forced the crew to leave the ship and they end up on an island inhabited with terrible creatures called Boggs. Alise meets Scully in his ghost form and he tells her to run away. Alise befriends a shipwrecked boy named Lucas who has been living all by himself after he ran away from his parents who are very poor and never had a real home. When the bridge was finished, Chamberlain tells Derek and Odette that Alise has run off. Worried, they began to search for their daughter, and on the road, they meet Scully who helps them stop Lucas's parents because they are looking for their son. As the 4 parents meet, Lucas' parents explain what happened. Alise and Lucas emerge out of the bushes and the 6 are reunited once more and they look to the polar star in a sign of gratitude.

The Swan Princess: Royally Undercover[]

In the 7th movie, Derek's daughter Alise and Lucas are on a spy mission near the kingdom of Trumbeau to recover the money from the people and Lord Rogers does everything to win Queen Uberta back because she blindly falls in love with Antonio. But in the end, everything is ok. Lord Rogers has Queen Uberta back and Antonio surrendered and he lands up on the same Island where Lucas had been.

The Swan Princess: A Royal Mzytery.[]

In the 8th movie, someone is leaving a mark like a Z, one of them being marked on Derek's shoulder. Odette and Derek go to Boromeo to meet Alise and Lucas and both were completely worried. Odette is relieved that Alise is Ok. Odette goes on a mission with Number 9 to find out who the man in black was. She noticed at once that it is a trap for Derek. Odette tells him about it and everyone learns about the mysterious mark. But as the children are imprisoned somewhere, Derek helps Alise and Lucas to escape along with Odette as he got himself trapped. Finally, the mysterious man appeared: Nicollo. Derek asked him why he put all those Z's but Nicollo revealed that they are actually an N. Nicollo wanted to take his revenge. He takes Derek to a submarine and he tied him up and left him alone with one of his rats.

Scully appeared to help him out but Derek is about to lose consciousness but a Bogg ghost named Hunch helps the rat to lift up the wrench and Derek is now free again.

The Swan Princess: Kingdom of Music:[]

Derek's wife Odette hosts a music festival competition to celebrate Alise's birthday. 5 members have entered: Shamar, Anya, Isabella, Humbelani, and Prince Li. The winner will also sing at the ball. Derek and Odette meet Princess Mei Li of noble birth, the twin sister of Prince Li and the daughter of the Emperor of Cathay who is in love with a peasant boy named Chen who is under a curse forcing him to live as a dragon.

As the 5 groups are presented by Chamberlain, Odette appears explaining about the festival. Humbelani is the first to make his performance. He inspired his country in Africa. But as he finished, Alise says to Lucas that anyone can win except Prince Li. Prince Li leaves the place feeling hurt and very angry. Queen Uberta tells her granddaughter to apologize to Prince Li. So they both meet and when Li sees Alise's harp, he tells her that he also has something similar. Li plays the Harp backward in a very good tune. Alise soon plays alone with him as a harp duet and they fall in love.

Derek and Odette take Mei Li and Chen to Swan Lake, the place where Odette was under Rothbart's spell. Odette was almost killed by the spell since Derek was tricked by Bridget but Derek confessed his true feelings to Odette and she returns back to life. Mei Li used the same words that Derek said to Odette but Chen doesn't feel any different at all and he changes back into a dragon. Scully is now their only hope. So Scully agreed to help them. He needs dragon blood. So Derek uses his bow and arrow and when some blood falls on Chen, Mei Li gives him his own blood but nothing works.

Scully flies to the Cathay Empire to find out what can he do to break the spell. He sees a sorceress who held an ancient scroll written in Chinese and Scully hopes to remember all this. Scully flies back Swan Lake and he tells Derek to write down near the shore what he had seen. When Derek finished the writing, Mei Li began to translate the writing. A child must surrender true love. Chen is disappointed and leaves Swan Lake in his dragon form so Mei Li must find some else to love but Mei Li doesn't want to love another. She collapses and she is bought back to the kingdom.

Prince Li and Alise get to know each other better and they become good friends. Prince Li is the last one to perform. He sings goodbye in Mandarin Chinese so full of passion and love after he admits to be in love with Alise. His background revealed the typical pink cherry blossom in the Asian continent. When he ended his performance, Odette makes the announcement the Prince Li is the winner. Prince Li is very happy and pleased that he had fulfilled the promise that he made to his father. Alise runs toward him very happy as she embraces him full of joy and happiness. He returns his embrace to her. Mei Li is happy but sad at the same time.

The coming of age ball begins, and Li makes a great appearance as the winner of the competition and everyone claps for him. Alise is ready to make her entrance. When Fang was about to marry Chen as he almost lifted the veil, the ceremony was interrupted and as Odette says I believe you, Mei Li gains her own body again and Fang traps Derek and most of the other people inside the mural. Odette and Mei Li are out there while Li and a young girl named Yu Yan overturn a boiler to defeat Fang as she has turned into a giant purple fire breathing snake to kill Mei Li. But Derek witnesses how Odette jumps into the flames to save Mei Li. Li and Yu Yan are going outside but they fear that everyone is gone but one by one, they all are freed and out in the garden. Derek runs to the place where Odette and Mei Li are. Mei Li cries as she holds Odette's body. Derek fears the worst to lose his beloved wife for a 3rd time but soon Odette opens her eyes and she smiles to everyone who is surrounding her. Derek is very relieved and everyone hails Odette.
