Lord Balthazar Rogers is a supporting character throughout The Swan Princess franchise. He is Derek's trusted, though sarcastic, musician tutor and has been Queen Uberta's personal valet since Derek was a child. He has a little rivalry with Bromley by playing tricks on him. He always trains Derek in a series of archery tests including the "Catch And Fire" technique, which was used to defeat Rothbart.
He lives with Derek and Odette in the castle that used to belong to Rothbart. Rogers is into getting Derek to do his duties as a king. In The Swan Princess: The Mystery of the Enchanted Treasure, he is seduced by the evil sorceress named Zelda. As valet, he serves as an uncle-like figure to Odette and Derek's adopted daughter, Alise, encouraging her adventurous spirit and acting as a balanced to Uberta's medieval princess ways.

Rogers has his very first starring role in this sequel (being the main protagonist of the subplot). He is forced to join Uberta in a tango during the talent show, but becomes frustrated that he is actually her servant and refuses to fall in love with her, wishing that there is someone to fall in love with him. Suddenly, a female "accordion slave" calls for help being surrounded by a bat and Rogers saves her. The slave introduces herself as Zelda and falls in love with Rogers. The next day, Rogers finds that Zelda has disappeared. Uberta convinces Rogers to help her win the talent show and he accepts. He and Uberta are never seen throughout the film's climax, when Derek fights Zelda (who is revealed to be an evil witch) by Derek. After the death of Zelda, Rogers and Uberta win the talent show, meaning he now knew that Uberta is his true love.

In The Swan Princess: A Fairy Tale Is Born, Balthazar Rogers was a university Doctor before becoming a lord, valet and musician tutor. Also, he helped Uberta train three dogs (This, That and The Other) for the Royal Dog Show against Queen Wixom's poodles, and after King Maximillian's supposed death Uberta asks Rogers to look after Derek.
