King Maximillian was the former King of Chamberg and the the husband of Queen Uberta, the father of King Derek and father-in-law to Queen Odette and the adopted grandfather to Princess Alise.
Born a peasants' son, Max fell in love with Princess Uberta and they eventually married.
He is presumed dead before the events of the Swan Princess even takes place.

King Maximillian is quite muscular and looks very much like Derek with brown hair
His signature outfit is his crown and red cape (which he wears lopsided)
The Swan Princess : A FairyTale Is Born[]
At the start of A Fairytale Is Born, Max lives with Uberta in a broken down cottage
The Swan Princess : Far Longer than Forever[]
King Maximillian reappeared, because he wasn't dead at all.
A few years later, King Maximillian is teaching young Prince Derek how to play "Catch and Fire" and plays with him in the garden while Uberta watches on.
